A Tribute to Jay Saltzman

As we say farewell to Jay after finishing his third term as the Club's President, let's look back on some of his remarkable achievements in his life.  He is Chartered Life Underwriter entering the Life Insurance business in 1959.  His major at UCLA was insurance and immediately following his graduation went to work for Prudential Life Insurance Co. Just prior to graduating from UCLA he entered the Army spending six months active duty and 5½ years as a reservist in the 306th Psychological Warfare Unit.
  
Jay's Community Service started while a student at LACC by joining a Service Club in 1955.  He later became President of that group.  He was President of a City of Hope Chapter in mid-1960s, President of Westwood Kiwanis in 1975, and President of the Woodland Hills Estate & Tax Planning Council in 1987. He considered his avocation to be teaching the Dale Carnegie Public Speaking & Human Relations course from 1973-1999.
 
His Rotary time started April 1993 when he became a member of the Woodland Hills Club.  He's been chairman of Club Services, Community Services, Membership and Foundation.  He has been chairing the Semi-Annual Arts and Crafts Faire for the past 10 years.  He was President in 1998, 2001 and for a third time in 2015 - 2016.  His club received the Silver Bell in 2001.  His District duties include District Assembly Chair, Assistant Governor in 2004, 2005 and 2006.  He was a member of the Long Range Planning Committee, District Finance Committee, Basic PRLS instructor and Master PRLS Instructor as well Chairman of Team 3000 Project.  He served as the second to last District Governor for District 5260 in 2009 – 2010.
 
Jay is proud to be a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and Major Donor.  He married Ferne on July 3rd, 1958. They have two children and 1 granddaughter, all of them residing in the San Fernando Valley.
