Dear Rotary Club of Woodland Hills,
We are moving forward with a fun and productive Rotary year.
We had a wonderful Officer of the Quarter meeting. We had a full house, and as always, we were honored to have the opportunity to honor such great men and women who do so much for our community. I also want to give a big shout out to Sandy Rosenholz for providing the wonderful Nothing Bundt Cake cupcakes to our honorees. Sandy, your generosity and thoughtfulness is appreciated by all.
We have had some losses in the past couple of weeks. Our deepest condolences go to Jill Mellman and her family for the loss of Jill’s mother, Sally. I didn’t know Sally, but from all the wonderful things I have heard, I wish I had.
Our own Bernie Otis passed over Labor Day weekend. His family was at his side. Bernie was a warm, caring man with a great sense of humor. He was an author and lecturer and led a very full life. We will miss him a lot.
The District Picnic in Redondo Beach was a lot of fun. Fabulous food (and a lot of it!) great fellowship and a terrific boat race. We didn’t win, but maybe next year, Steve? Matt, thanks for making our boat sturdy, and Steve, thanks for being our “jockey”!!!!
On August 8thwe had a very upbeat meeting with District Governor Joe Vasquez. It was a pleasure hosting Joe, his aide, Nora, and our ADG, Sally Goya. On August 15thwe had a fabulous speaker from the district, Kathleen Terry. Kathleen is the district Membership Chair. She is dynamic and engaging and really got us all to think about ways we can grow our membership.
The last Wednesday of August we had a great social gathering at the Sagebrush Cantina. It was a really fun time for all. Thank you Connie, for making the arrangements.
September will be another productive month for us. We will be inducting a couple of new members. Many of us will be attending the Peace in the South Bay gathering which developed as a springboard from our Clergy Dialogue.
Let’s BE THE INSPIRATION
Yours in Rotary Service,
Dale
