As we embark on a new year, I'm filled with hope and excitement for the positive impact we can make together. Our commitment to community service remains unwavering, and I'm thrilled to announce our upcoming "Human Trafficking Awareness Town Hall" on January 20th. Collaborating with the Pacific Lodge and adopting the ONEGeneration senior center showcase our dedication to helping both the youth and the seniors in our community. In 2024, let's continue our journey of compassion and service, supporting vital initiatives that uplift lives. Your enthusiasm and engagement are the driving force behind our success. Together, we'll create lasting change and build a better future for all.
The club held an official "adoption ceremony" of ONEgeneration on December 8. Rotary District 5280 District Governor Makiko Ogihara Nakasone was on hand to tell the 200+ seniors the great news. Programs were handed out, raffle tickets sold and dessert served. The club presented a $1,500 check and sponsored the holiday event.
Steve & Bryna Hornstein were among the community and business leaders and Ruth Chris' executives celebrating the relocated opening of the restaurant. All of the proceeds from the event went to Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the company said.
Much of the milk produced in Peru never leaves the farm: It’s consumed directly by farming families, fed to calves, and used to make artisanal cheeses. The Rotary E-Club of Fusión Latina Distrito 4465 teamed up with the nonprofit CEDEPAS Norteto help subsistence farmers in the country’s northern highlands. Last year the club delivered stainless steel presses and molds to open two cheese production facilities. A global grant of more than $50,000 helped pay for the equipment, training, management, and marketing. “So far there are 21 new employees and 63 families served, and 25 pregnant cows were gifted” through the Peruvian government program Agroideas, says Club President Fernando Barrera, who lives in Trujillo.
