On August 14, 2023, the world lost an amazing person, Elizabeth Tilkian. Anna Sakvarelidze wrote about her dear friend. "She was my protector and would check on me, making sure I wasn't doing a little too much and was taking care of myself. Elizabeth has always given me good advice and was there for me during her last nine years. She was one of the few people I met right away when I joined the Rotary Club of Woodland Hills. Elizabeth was a dedicated volunteer, a board member, and passionate about helping others.
Elizabeth started Debo (www.deboethiopia.org), a nonprofit that is dedicated to helping kids in an Ethiopian village. She did so much for her non-profit as well as locally to make people’s lives better. Elizabeth was a true leader, most generous, sweet, a caring person and had a huge heart. She also knew when to put her foot down and voice her opinion. I loved that about her. Elizabeth was battling cancer for a couple of years and it took her life, but I know she’s in a better place. I will miss you tremendously “mama” (that’s how I called her, because she was like a mom to me). You were such a beautiful friend. I can’t believe you’re gone and no longer here with us.
