Why is February the theme month for peace and conflict prevention?
February is the anniversary of the first Rotary meeting, which took place on February 23, 1905 in Chicago. This day is now known as World Understanding and Peace Day. Conflict and violence can lead to displacement and suffering, especially for women and children. Rotary works to address the root causes of conflict, such as poverty, lack of education, and unequal distribution of resources.
