Dear Rotarians

Woodland Hills Rotary is a very proactive and dynamic club that for many years has set a standard of excellence for clubs in the district as well as other community organizations. As we begin the second month of the Rotary year, we are already making a huge difference in our community. I encourage you to become involved by joining a committee if you have not already done so. If you are undecided what direction to devote your energy, call me. There are many opportunities for service.

As of today, there are only 48 weeks remaining in the year, and it will fly by in a flash. It is essential for new and more experienced members alike to focus on the real things our club does and dedicate ourselves to the tasks at hand. That is why I am asking you at the beginning of the year to participate in whatever way suits you best so that we can proceed with all due diligence to meet the challenges that await.

Wishing to avoid the platitudes that sometimes bog down Rotary communications, and because I want to know what people are thinking and saying as we proceed, we have initiated a regular Happy Hour Zoom meeting on Thursdays at 5:00 pm to which all club members are invited. The purpose of these gatherings is to discuss in an open forum emergent issues and ideas that arise in the natural course of events, or simply to just talk among friends. There is no agenda and I stress that these Happy Hour meetings are not empowered to make decisions, that is the job of the avenue of service committees and/or the Board of Directors.

Somewhere along the line you were recognized as a person who can make a significant difference by sharing the resources and talents that you as an individual bring to our club. No one becomes a Rotarian without being invited, and no one is invited that hasn’t in some way distinguished themselves as a person of considerable merit. It is an honor and a privilege to be a member of Rotary, and I want to thank you all for accepting the responsibilities that go with being a leader in our community.

We have a wonderful club with a proud history of many great accomplishments. We are gifted with many resources and opportunities to be of service. Let us make the most of what we are to do the best we can.

Yours in Rotary,

James Domine,
President 2021-2022
