Steve Musnicky Honored on the July 4th

If you meet Steve Musnicky you will likely get a Hug. Known as "Huggies Bear to family and friends, Steve is one of those people who just finds a way to love people. It was in the Navy that took Steve to all seven continents as a Heavy Equipment Operator First Class. Some of his assignments included retrieving aircraft from war-torn Somalia and aiding children orphaned by genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovia. Steve was awarded five Navy achievement medals.  On the Fourth of July, Steve was honored for his work with Fleet Street with a special presentation of an American flag, that flew over the nation's Capitol, and a Certificate of Appreciation by Congressman Brad Sherman.

Following his military career, he spent 12 years at Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch.  In 2009, Steve founded Fleet Street, whose mission is "providing hope and happiness one bike at a time." He assists in training a team of volunteers including teenagers from the Pacific Lodge Boys' Home and LAPD's Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) and Summer Night Lights (SNL) programs to repair bicycles. Once skilled in this trade, Fleet Street finds, collects, and accepts donations of bicycles and refurbish them. Then they are given to children who might never have had the thrill of owning one. In 2014 Fleet Street gave away 537 bicycles with a goal of 700 this year. "When God gives you a dream, prepare for ride," said Steve. (In the photo Steve is on the left waving his hand)
