Happy August everyone! We made it through the first month of the 2026-2027 Rotary year! We are off to a running and busy start! We are jumping right in with activities, fellowship, projects, great attendance at our meetings and welcoming new faces to our club!
We kicked off July on the 1st with our annual Demotion Dinner. We looked back on Christy’s presidential year with all the great things our club accomplished. And we did A LOT! That is what our club is known for, being active, busy and doing as much as we can to help our community. We ceremoniously passed the gavel down the line while welcoming my new board for the 2026 - 2027 year,
We had our club assembly on July 8th, where I outlined my vision and goals for the year. We also had the Avenues of Service tell us what they have planned for the year. We welcomed first timers to the board of directors and returning ones as well. I am so blessed to have a wonderful, dedicated team.
On July 15th, we welcomed our exchange student Kotoko to give a presentation to our club about her year in Los Angeles. We welcomed her host families and her mother from Japan. It takes a very special person to come to another country for a year. Kotoko was amazing.
On July 22nd, District Governor-elect Janice Lowers told us about her background. What a story! She is going to have her own style for her year in 2027 – 2028.
We had a wonderful visit with our own Sheri Polak at Sharky’s Restaurant. Over 30 friends visited with her, and it was very exciting to see her in person.
On Saturday July 25th, we had two wonderful projects at the same time. An event at Back Alley Bowling, where 10 Rotarians assisted Special Olympics athletes with a bowling tournament, and a Shine L.A. event, at Reseda Park, where we were a sponsor with other local community organizations for a backpack and school supplies giveaway. Mayor Karen Bass and Councilman Bob Blumenfield attended this wonderful event.
August will also be busy with many district activities. So, with that said, Let’s Have Fun and Get it Done! And let’s get moving!!!
