Hello Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

In these challenging times marked by recent attacks in Gaza and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the importance of peace resonates with deeper meaning. As we come together this November to celebrate Thanksgiving, let us not only count our blessings but also extend our thoughts to those who suffer in areas plagued by strife.

We give thanks for the peace we enjoy within our community, mindful of the hardships faced by others. Our hearts are with the victims and their families, and we remain dedicated to working toward peace on a global scale.

I’m proud to share the news about the District 5280 Peace Walk, planned for October 28th, 2023, a testament to our commitment to promoting peace. Looking ahead, our joint Peace Committee will be hosting upcoming meetings where we'll plan and participate in activities aimed at fostering peace and goodwill.

Let us embrace the holiday season with gratitude and determination to be peacemakers, and together, let us work towards a more harmonious world.

Yours in Rotary,

Michelle Rodriguez

Shani Grafman: Western Los Angeles County Council Boy Scouts
Shani Grafman, the Director of Development for the the Western Los Angeles County Council Boys Scouts, was the featured guest speaker at the club's lunch meeting on September 28. She was a amazing guest speaker who kept everyone captivated and entertained with her encyclopedic knowledge and history of the Boys Scouts in Los Angeles. For those of you who don't know, Shani is leading a talented team responsible for managing grants, marketing efforts, and direct mail campaigns. Additionally, Shani and her team are instrumental in orchestrating fundraising events that greatly benefit the Boy Scouts and their mission!
